When it comes to pumpkins, most people think of the orange gourds that are picked and used for carving in autumn, as well as various delicious dishes made from pumpkins. But have you ever found that those little pumpkin seeds that were casually discarded are also good treasures!
Pumpkin seeds
According to the Compendium of Materia Medica, "Pumpkins were grown in various parts of Yanjing today, after leaving the southern region and transitioning to Fujian and Zhejiang provinces. Pumpkin seeds, also known as pumpkin kernels, white melon seeds, and golden melon rice, are the seeds of the gourd family plant pumpkin and are widely cultivated throughout the country. When eating pumpkins in summer and autumn, collect their mature seeds, remove the flesh film, wash them, and dry them in the sun. Pumpkin seeds have a slight odor and a slightly sweet taste. The seeds are large in size, full in kernel, and have a yellowish white outer shell. Fresh ones are preferred, and can be used for powder cultivation.
[Contraindications for use]
1. Patients with liver disease should not eat it
Eating too much pumpkin seeds may cause and worsen liver fat infiltration, which is not suitable for patients with chronic hepatitis or fatty liver.
2. Gastric fever patients should eat less
Patients with stomach heat are not suitable to eat too much, as they may feel bloated and stuffy in their stomachs. Moreover, when frying pumpkin seeds, a certain amount of salt is added, combined with its calories. Therefore, eating too much can easily lead to excessive heat, leading to a strong liver fire.
